frost (a clogyrnach)

forsaken by the sun’s warm light
the frosty crust is formed at night
ice seeps cold and stark
in the creeping dark
makes its mark out of sight

This is an attempt at a clogyrnach, which is a form of Welsh poetry. I figured it’s about time I learned about the poetry of my adopted country, having been here for so long. There will no doubt be more attempts at a variety of forms as I learn about them. And thank you johnnycrabcakes for the inspiration, as I discovered clogyrnach on your blog

  1. This is just lovely Suzy–you’ve done this form far more justice than I–great choice of rhyming words. I learned of this (and others) in Turco’s “Book of Forms”–an awesome resource. I am honored to have inspired such a touching piece. I will come back to this…
