Galling

I spent most of today in bed with a migraine and it’s only now that I feel safe looking at a screen again to write this. To be quite honest I am so sick of dealing with various varieties of pain and could really do with a bit of a break from it. I still have the sciatica too. It’s all very having painkillers but when you’re taking them every single day for nearly a month it starts to get a bit much.

Anyway … this is supposed to be a photo blog so I’ll shut up now.

The weekend before last I was walking round the village and spotted two weird things. The first was one I’d seen before – an Oak Marble Gall but the other was mysterious. It turned out that it was also a gall – but very different looking! It’s called the Robin’s Pincushion Gall. Galls are made by Gall Wasps who inject their eggs into plants and the gall develops around them. Weird but rather fascinating.

  1. I’ve had horrific migraines since age 6… but aren’t they all horrific? 😦 So sorry that you suffer with them and hoping you feel completely better soon. 🙂 Wonderful photos! This is so interesting.
