through tunnels
made of burnished gold
we travel through
these autumn days
’til lies the honeyed carpet
as the bare bones touch the sky

    1. The poem was inspired by driving through a ‘tunnel’ of autumn trees. Soon the leaves will all have fallen and will carpet the ground while the trees will be left with just their bare bones of empty branches reaching up to the sky.
