Leafhopper

I saw this tiny Leafhopper the other day, sat motionless on a twig of the Willow tree. He sat so still and so long that I was able to go back indoors, fetch the tripod and set up so I could get the best close-up shot I could manage.

While watching him, I observed him excreting something … kind of like he was peeing! I think its actually a special secretion that Leafhoppers use to ‘anoint’ themselves with – not sure why. Anyway I found it kind of amusing, so decided to video a couple of squirts!
