Sunny Spoons

A few days ago on my first potter around my parents’ garden I sneaked a peek into the greenhouse to see what was there. I spotted these newly opened flowers. They’re Osteospermum “purple spoon” – oddly beautiful flowers whose petals end in spoon-shapes. Mum has had to cover these plants over with fleece now to protect them from the frost but they were looking lovely in the sunshine earlier in the week.IMG_9297-Edit

Here’s the same sort of flower back in the summer (also here in my parents’ garden), with its petals wide open.
