A few days ago on my first potter around my parents’ garden I sneaked a peek into the greenhouse to see what was there. I spotted these newly opened flowers. They’re Osteospermum “purple spoon” – oddly beautiful flowers whose petals end in spoon-shapes. Mum has had to cover these plants over with fleece now to protect them from the frost but they were looking lovely in the sunshine earlier in the week.
Here’s the same sort of flower back in the summer (also here in my parents’ garden), with its petals wide open.
