I’m not sure if it’s just a British thing but we have a little mnemonic for the colours of the rainbow: “Richard of York gave battle in vain”. That’s the phrase that has stuck in my mind since childhood, rather than the “Roy G. Biv” of this challenge. But whatever method you choose to remind yourself of the order, the colours are the same … so here’s my rainbow of flowers:

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “ROY G. BIV.”
All photos from this post are available to buy in my shop, as greeting cards, postcards, prints, notebooks etc.
At school we were taught….Real Old Yokels Gorge Beef In Volume…..not as attractive a ditty as Richard of York but it stuck in the memory bank!! (-:
Good luck with the Postcard sales

Great pictures. My favourite British mnemonic is for the planets: ‘Many volcanos erupt mulberry jam sandwiches under normal pressure’. I suppose that one’s out of date (which is a pity), though I hear Pluto may be reinstated as a planet this year. My fingers are crossed!

I’m with you on “Richard of York …” – that’s my rainbow reminder too. Beautiful flower shots, Suzy.

Too beautiful, Blue. Hey, I just got back from the Cotswolds! It was amazing, got lost on a bunch of paths and took some awesome photos. Yours are better, though.
