If I had to pick a single thing as my muse, rather than the whole of nature, I’d probably have to choose dragonflies. I get such a thrill getting shots of them, and spend far too long hanging around the village pond – just 5 more minutes – trying to get that perfect shot.
Today I got some fantastic shots thanks to an unusually docile dragon. I think it’s an immature male – perhaps only recently emerged from its larval stage. Please enjoy a gradual trip closer and closer into the wondrous eyes of this Common Darter 🙂 (please click on the photos to get the full effect)

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Muse.”
[ Smiles ] I also love dragonflies.
Thank you for posting these beautiful photos!

These are incredible shots! You’ve done your muse proud. Your focus is spot on and your point of view gives the distinct feeling that the little critter is looking directly at (and perhaps through) you. Nice job and a great collection.

You must have a new lens. These are fabulous. I can see all the individual lenses in each eye…or all they all miniscule eyes? I love dragonflies as well, but I’ve never seen them in this amount of detail. Your muse is kind to you..Judy

Absolutely amazing, if I get anywhere near a damselfly or dragonfly they disappear into a cloud of dust.

Couldn’t agree with you more… I usually plan for 20-25 minutes of photography and with that ‘5’ extra minutes, I end up spending like 90 minutes in the end 🙂 … Pls check out my posts when you get a chance…
