Yellow Loosestrife take quite some time to flower. They seem to spend weeks and weeks looking as if they’ll flower any minute, and then finally a profusion of yellow blooms open and make it worth waiting for.
The flower buds appeared at the beginning of June:
By mid-June (15th) they looked fit to burst, ready to flower at any moment…
But it wasn’t until 23rd that a few flowers began to open:
And there are still plenty more yet to open today! They have interesting textures when you look closely, like they’re covered in tiny bubbles. If you’d like a closer look you can click on the photo to view a bigger version.
