April brings new life, new warmth, and the insects are returning after a quiet winter. I looked back at previous Aprils and found these images of some of the first insects of each year.

An ant on a Spanish Bluebell, April 2014
A hoverfly (and a photobombing Shield Bug), April 2015

A Honey Bee on Flowering Currant, April 2017
A shiny fly on Willow catkins, April 2018
Fly on a Celandine, not quite April 2019

I’m looking forward to seeing more insects this April, even some of my favourite insects towards the end of the month – Damselflies!
