Helpful Dragon
We saw several dragonflies at Compton Acres yesterday, but most of them were so busy about their business I couldn’t get a photo of them. I did attempt to photograph them in flight but its very difficult when they’re so speedy! But then my sister spotted one who was more willing to have his photograph…… Continue reading Helpful Dragon
Compton Acres Hoverflies (and a Bee!)
After a bit of a tricky start involving my car not starting, we did manage to visit Compton Acres yesterday as planned. It was very warm but fortunately there are many shady spots along the way so we didn’t entirely melt! We walked out into the outside area where the plants are and pretty much the first thing I saw was an Anemone! Just the…… Continue reading Anemone
Amemones
While at Compton Acres, I was enjoying the Anemones, and I’ve decided that I must get some for the garden (as well as the Cyclamens). I nearly bought a plant in the shop there, but then thought that carrying it back on the bus might be a little inconvenient. There’s something very appealing about them.…… Continue reading Amemones
Down in the woods
In the woods right now, there is a carpet of colour. Mostly Celandines, but now they are joined by the beautiful delicate Wood Anemones. Next will come the Bluebells, but not quite yet. And then once the trees all leaf up, the colours will fade. Inspired by the Weekly Photo Challenge: Awakening.
