Another flower I’m rather fond of today. After photographing them last year I bought some for my own garden, but I still love to photograph the beautiful Cyclamen patch at Compton Acres. It has a lower path on one side so you’re level with the ground and can get a lovely angle on them.
You may remember that I am very fond of Anemones 🙂 I am dedicating a whole post just to them.
We saw several dragonflies at Compton Acres yesterday, but most of them were so busy about their business I couldn’t get a photo of them. I did attempt to photograph them in flight but its very difficult when they’re so speedy! But then my sister spotted one who was more willing to have his photographContinue reading “Helpful Dragon”
After a bit of a tricky start involving my car not starting, we did manage to visit Compton Acres yesterday as planned. It was very warm but fortunately there are many shady spots along the way so we didn’t entirely melt! We stopped half way at the cafe for a cold drink and a sliceContinue reading “Compton Acres Hoverflies (and a Bee!)”
Yesterday’s tiny caterpillar wasn’t the only creature spotted at Compton Acres. These golden yellow flowers make a beautiful splash of colour and we even spotted a tiny caterpillar on oneContinue reading “Golden”
While at Compton Acres, I was enjoying the Anemones, and I’ve decided that I must get some for the garden (as well as the Cyclamens). I nearly bought a plant in the shop there, but then thought that carrying it back on the bus might be a little inconvenient. There’s something very appealing about them.Continue reading “Amemones”
Lots of lovely layers in flowers at Compton Acres in Dorset, last month… Inspired by the Weekly Photo Challenge: Layered.
I’m looking forward to spring and the arrival of insects and flowers. In the meantime I’m remembering the summer and some beautiful graceful flowers I saw down in Compton Acres in Dorset. Inspired by the Weekly Photo Challenge: Graceful
While at Compton Acres (what now seems like a long time ago), it wasn’t just flowers we saw. In amongst the flowers, in various locations around the gardens were various sculptures. I didn’t photograph them all, but here are a selection of fun things found among the flowers.
