It’s Snowdrop Season! Hurrah! I went for a walk yesterday to get some photos of these beautiful early flowers. Snowdrops are a bit like Covid vaccinations… a sign of hope, a sign that there will be better times ahead, a sign that spring is coming. Some of them had the added joy of lovely droplets…… Continue reading Snowdrop Season

2020 Favourites
This week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge is about our favourite images from 2020. I’ve already posted about the photos/posts that were most popular among my readers, but now it’s my turn to look back at the year and think about my own personal favourites. Way back in January 2020, the light was just gorgeous on these…… Continue reading 2020 Favourites
Last Snake of 2020
Yesterday I celebrated the first butterfly photo of 2020. Today I’m celebrating the last of my snakes … Snake’s Head Fritillaries of course, not actual snakes. I had six flowers this year and here’s how the sixth flower has been getting on. This is flower number 6 as it was on March 22nd: By April…… Continue reading Last Snake of 2020
Treasure Hunt
This week’s Lens-Artists Challenge is a treasure hunt. I’ve been enjoying a dig through my archives to try and find shots for all the items, some more recent than others. Sunrise or sunset This photo was taken one morning a couple of weeks back, on my phone, while preparing lunches in the kitchen. The sky…… Continue reading Treasure Hunt
Through the Hedge
I was thinking about the Weekly Photo Challenge while having a wander round the village earlier and when I saw some Rhododendron flowers through the hedge I thought they’d be good for a picture with a frame of leaves. I did also wonder to myself, why are these Rhododendrons flowering now – they usually flower…… Continue reading Through the Hedge
Village Views
This is where I live, where I walk, where I poke around in hedgerows, squat (painfully) photographing tiny things, and occasionally I change my lens and look up at the beautiful blue sky, and thank my lucky stars that I live in such a lovely place.
Mist and fog patches, and occasional drizzle
The weather continues very autumnally (is that a word!?). The trees are changing colour swiftly and it is very mixed weather with lots of dampness and not a lot of sun lately. I was pottering around the garden the other day and spotted this pair of leaves – I love how the little one looks…… Continue reading Mist and fog patches, and occasional drizzle
A Little Tour
Yesterday, before I got distracted by peering into the pond, we had a little walk around the village again. I thought that for a change I would take my 18-55mm lens with me so I could show you a bit more about where I go for my walks. This is the wet meadow that I’ve…… Continue reading A Little Tour
Blue Sky
No rain today! It was very cold though. I spent quite a long time outdoors as my daughter was at a Show Jumping competition, and then later we went for a walk. My fingers and toes were getting so cold! But it was lovely to see some blue sky for a change 🙂 This image…… Continue reading Blue Sky

the grey ribbon of the road flows down through the village dissecting the two sides here on the sunny side days are longer and brighter away from the shadow of the dark hill lower down the road swings round the church a walled island protected from the rush and houses moored to the road-river bob…… Continue reading village
