Surprises in the Garden

I get a lot of surprises when taking photos of small things. I often find myself looking at a pretty flower and discover that there is a tiny creature on board. Sometimes I don’t notice the little creatures until later on when I’m looking at the photos I took! I had a look out inContinue reading “Surprises in the Garden”

Old and New, New and Old

As you’ll know if you’re a regular visitor, I am all about nature when it comes to photography. So when I saw this weeks Lens-Artists Photo Challenge was “Old & New” I immediately started thinking about how I can apply this to nature, and the types of photos I like to take. I began toContinue reading “Old and New, New and Old”

Teeny Tiny Bee, and more…

Today is a bank holiday, so no working, I can just use my computer for fun things 🙂 So I thought I’d do another blog post as there are more photos to be shared. A tiny solitary bee also visited that Osteospermum that I shared in yesterday’s post. If you compare these photos with yesterday’sContinue reading “Teeny Tiny Bee, and more…”

Things I like to do…

If you’re a regular reader you will know what my main three pastimes are … observing nature, taking photos & creating things with crochet. Observing nature, and taking photos often goes hand in hand, although I do occasionally take photos of other things! These are a few photos my sister has taken of me throughContinue reading “Things I like to do…”

Cuckoo

I love it when Cuckooflower season comes around. I love their delicate pink, and the beautiful veined petals, and the contrast with the green of their stamens and stigma (the bits in the middle of the flower). If you want to see more photos, take a look at the Cuckooflower page in the wildflower sectionContinue reading “Cuckoo”

Red Dead-nettle

My usual Red Dead-nettle spot hasn’t let me down this year. There are, as usual, lots of pretty little flowers growing there. I like to know that year after year, I can rely on the various different spring flowers to appear in their usual spot, at the usual time. It’s quite comforting.

Delicate Primrose Yellow

Primrose yellow is such a gentle, delicate kind of yellow. While the Daffodils, Dandelions and Forsythia are proclaiming the start of spring with their bright sunshine yellow, the primrose is more subtle with its approach. And when adorned with shining raindrops, the picture is complete. These Primroses are in my garden. I’m hoping to haveContinue reading “Delicate Primrose Yellow”

Belonging

I’ve struggled with fitting in my whole life. I’ve tried to be the person I felt others expected me to be, I’ve tried to make myself the person I thought I should be. I’ve never felt enough. I’m quiet, I’m introverted, my favourite activities are solitary, I’m not “normal”, whatever that is. Out in theContinue reading “Belonging”

Wildflowers round my pond

Sorry, I seem to have gotten out of the habit of posting on my blog. Since WordPress moved the Weekly Photo Challenge to Wednesday instead of Friday, it’s been harder for me to keep doing it. However, I don’t need a challenge to be able to post, do I?! So I thought I’d tell youContinue reading “Wildflowers round my pond”

Happy Mother’s Day

In the UK it is Mother’s Day today. When I was small I’m sure I remember picking bunches of wildflowers for my Mum. I’d pick daisies and whatever other little flowers I could find and present them in my grubby little hand, and my Mum would act like it was a great gift. Happy Mother’sContinue reading “Happy Mother’s Day”
