Things I like to do…

If you’re a regular reader you will know what my main three pastimes are … observing nature, taking photos & creating things with crochet. Observing nature, and taking photos often goes hand in hand, although I do occasionally take photos of other things! These are a few photos my sister has taken of me throughContinue reading “Things I like to do…”

Wildlife Welcome

I like to try and live in harmony with nature. Even if I was able to work hard getting my garden all perfect and neat, I don’t think I would want to. What I really want is a bit of the wild countryside that’s easier to access being right outside my door. I want toContinue reading “Wildlife Welcome”

Belonging

I’ve struggled with fitting in my whole life. I’ve tried to be the person I felt others expected me to be, I’ve tried to make myself the person I thought I should be. I’ve never felt enough. I’m quiet, I’m introverted, my favourite activities are solitary, I’m not “normal”, whatever that is. Out in theContinue reading “Belonging”

Small and Coppery

Here’s a pretty little Small Copper butterfly that I spotted a couple of days ago on a little walk to the village pond. They’re very dainty little things 🙂 I took some photos while he busily investigated every inch of this flower… he was having a good day with plenty of sunshine and flowers, andContinue reading “Small and Coppery”

Shy Creatures and Crochet

I went for a walk yesterday and as usual spent some time by the village pond. I was a little disappointed to only get a couple of shots, but when IContinue reading “Shy Creatures and Crochet”

Ragged Ragged Robin

Last weekend I noticed this Ragged Robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi), the first one that I’d seen this year. It looked a bit more ragged than normal but despite its tatters it is still beautiful. And the rain-covered grass glistening in the sun made some lovely bokeh to help it to sparkle. I presume some small creature enjoyedContinue reading “Ragged Ragged Robin”

Less Elusive Pheasants

We often hear Pheasants when we’re out walking – they have a pretty distinctive sound. But the only times I usually see them are when they are on the roadside and I’m driving somewhere. However, at RSPB Ynyshir the other day there were about 6 or 7 young Pheasants hanging around the bird feeders! AtContinue reading “Less Elusive Pheasants”

Wild Visitors

After a long week of work and all kinds of stresses and strains, it made me very happy to have a brief wander in the wild garden between showers this evening. I found a couple of lovely wild visitors out there. Firstly this little Soldier Beetle was busy flying about and allowed me to getContinue reading “Wild Visitors”
