A Difficult Journey
I’m on a journey, as I imagine many white people are right now, of learning and understanding how I am part of the problem of systemic racism in our world and what I can do about it. There are no frills, no pretty flowers to soften the harsh truth. I must walk this difficult path…… Continue reading A Difficult Journey
Bluebells
When I was out walking in the woods, I saw a few bluebells. Not a carpet of blue but a few, here and there. It was definitely still the time for Celandines and Wood Anemones, not the Bluebells’ turn yet! On the way back I spotted this Dock Bug taking a break on a Bluebell.…… Continue reading Bluebells
Carpet of Flowers
When I went for a walk yesterday, the Celandines were really putting on a good show. The woodland path was surrounded by them. So bright and cheerful 🙂 And of course, I couldn’t just leave it there, I have to get closer 🙂 I didn’t notice at the time, but the central flower in the…… Continue reading Carpet of Flowers
Curves and Frills
I was considering what I might post on the topic of curves for the Lens-Artists Challenge #28 and thought about some curvy frilly fungi I saw growing on a tree back in the autumn. Being me, I had to figure out what kind of fungus it was before I could blog about it! It has taken… Continue reading Curves and Frills

Golden Light
My daughter and I went out for a walk in the woods by the river this afternoon. We’re both tired out now, but it was a lovely walk. The sun was low and the leaves were golden. The light and the leaves together were beautiful. I’m not sure my photos entirely capture the feeling, but…… Continue reading Golden Light
Down in the woods
In the woods right now, there is a carpet of colour. Mostly Celandines, but now they are joined by the beautiful delicate Wood Anemones. Next will come the Bluebells, but not quite yet. And then once the trees all leaf up, the colours will fade. Inspired by the Weekly Photo Challenge: Awakening.
Tiny Mushrooms
On a walk in the woods last weekend, I found some tiny little mushrooms (and some bigger ones). It was beautiful in the woods with all the autumn colour. I must post some of the photos of the autumn trees soon. Meanwhile, the tiny mushrooms – enjoy 🙂 Inspired by the Weekly Photo Challenge: Tiny.
Delicate
I don’t have Wood Sorrel in the woods near my house, but while walking in some different woodland I saw lots of them. Here’s my favourite shot of this delicate little flower.
More Bluebells
Along with the Bluebells that were adorned with Bumblebees, there were also many others just showing off their glory on their own. Without a wide angle lens I couldn’t get the full carpet effect, but I enjoyed getting some shots of individuals with the carpet soft-focused behind, as well as some against the greenery. Lovely…… Continue reading More Bluebells
